INNOVATION IN MOTION The 8th Annual Company & Investor Spotlight Reagan E. Jackson T he Company & Investor Spotlight kicked off the 14th Annual Conference on Technology Innovation Tuesday, November 12, at the Jackson Convention Complex. An energetic start to the conference, the Company & Investor Spotlight showcased a variety of innovative startup companies and hosted a distinguished panel of investors. "We featured 10 great companies, and although they are at different stages, they all have promise," said Tasha Bibb, entrepreneurial development manager at Innovate Mississippi.  "Entrepreneurs in the audience got an opportunity to ask questions of the investor panels. A lot of information was shared, and entrepreneurs walked away better informed on how to plan for a more successful business."   Prior to the event, the Innovate Mississippi entrepreneurial development team helped each of the 10 companies prepare to make their presentations as well as to meet with investors and potential customers. "Innovate Mississippi has been very helpful for our company in its efforts to get established in Mississippi," said Cynthia O'Donnell, vice president of NG1 Technologies, a presenting company. "The Spotlight event they coordinated allowed us to meet influential business people in the state and expose our technology to interested parties. From the Spotlight, our company representatives were invited to tour Stennis Space Center to determine viability of our technology for an SBIR project." 24 Pointe Innovation Representing a creative mix of businesses, the presenting companies included: Ambit Prime™: An IT company that provides data security services for enterprise use that moves IT beyond its current limits. Ambit Prime is a Referral Agent for their WindTalker™ product, a cloud-based encryption framework that allows application-layer protection of the most commonly used word processing applications. Giglines.com: A website and application that enables military service members to create individual profiles that include specific ranks, classifications and awards. Personalized to the user's specifications, Giglines.com will display proper attire and placement guidelines according to service members' needs and warranted occasion. Magnetic Arrow: A design firm offering creative solutions in web and mobile app development, web design, graphic design, branding, marketing and social media management, Magnetic Arrow produces in-house projects, including the entertainment and leisure discovery app, ThinkDusk, which is currently in development. Navagis: A Google Premier Partner, Navagis helps enterprise organizations create operating maps that enable decision makers and operators to visualize critical information across space and time in order to realize more revenue, optimize assets, manage costs and increase safety. Navagis offers industry-specific solutions for the telecom, utilities, agriculture, financial and government sectors.
